Advanta was started in 1951 with $30 in seed money. Jack Alter, a Philadelphia school teacher, wanted to help fellow teachers get access to capital. Advanta learned early on that an entrepreneur with a little bit of money can change the world. Today, Advanta is a highly focused financial services company dedicated to providing funding and support to small business owners and business professionals through innovative financial product offerings and services. This commitment has established Advanta as one of the nation's largest issuers (through Advanta Bank Corp.) of credit cards to small businesses.

The KivaB4B Project is Advanta's most recent endeavor to empower small businesses and entrepreneurs. The Project encourages U.S.-based small businesses and entrepreneurs to support entrepreneurs in developing countries. When someone uses an Advanta BusinessCard to help an entrepreneur through Kiva, Advanta matches those funds to Kiva (up to $200 per month per account in total). KivaB4B is our second project after Ideablob.com ® (a thriving online community where business owners can share advice about business ideas and win a monthly $10k prize for the idea that the community votes as best)*.

This site, B4BCommunity.org, is where people can share ideas, news, resources and stories related to Kiva, micro-finance, cause related marketing for small businesses and just about anything else that relates to small business owners and entrepreneurs helping each other around the world.
